Learn Locative in Serbian & Croatian

Lokativ

The location case — always paired with a preposition. Use it to describe where something is or what a conversation, thought, or story is about. Unlike all other cases, the locative never appears without a preposition.

  • Indicating location — where something is or where something happens
  • Indicating topic — what something is about
  • Always used with a preposition — never alone

Common prepositions

The locative is the only case that is never used without a preposition.

Examples

Ja sam u školi.

I am at school.

Knjiga je na stolu.

The book is on the table.

Razmišljam o tebi.

I am thinking about you.
